President’s spokesperson Reuben Abati said this in a press release issued on Thursday. The appointment is with immediate effect, he added.
NDLEA is a state agency aimed at eliminating illicit drug trafficking and consumption in Nigeria.
Mrs Bode-George takes over from Olufemi Ajayi, who was on Wednesday appointed the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
Mr. George (real name Olabode Ibiyinka George), a leader of the PDP in Lagos, is a delegate at the ongoing National Conference.
It would be recalled that on October 26, 2009 a Lagos High Court sentenced Bode George to a two year jain term for fraud he allegedly committed while serving as the chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority board. On December 14, 2013, the Supreme Court voided the term, saying that George was tried under a law that did not exist at the time.
