This is evident in a new poll organized by Reno Omokri, Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media.
In what looks like a test run to check the fan base of President Goodluck Jonathan on twitter, Mr Omokri held a poll yesterday which didn’t go too well for both him and President Jonathan.
President Goodluck Jonathan once again lost to the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, in a tweet poll organised to test the popularity of presidential candidates.
The poll which was organised by one of Mr. Jonathan’s aides, Reno Omokri (using his Twitter handle, @Renoomokri), saw Mr. Omokri put up three questions.
“Who will be more tolerant of criticisms? Retweet to choose GEJ. Favourite for Buhari. Answer honestly with the fear of God! #WhyIwillVoteGEJ”.
“Under whom will the Nigerian Press have the most freedom. Retweet to choose GEJ, Favourite to choose Buhari. Answer honestly, with the fear of God”.
“Who will respect the rule of law .Retweet to choose GEJ, Favourite for Buhari. Answer honestly, with the fear of God! #WhyIwillVoteGEJ”.
However, the response from the followers didn’t go too well for Mr Omokri and President Jonathan as the Favourites for Gen. Buhari was approximately four times more the retweets in the first question, while the second question earned Buhari more Favourites (thrice the number of retweets) President Jonathan had.
The third question earned Buhari four times more favourites than Jonathan’s retweet, capping off a not too good turnout and poll for the Peoples Democratic party.
Mr. Omokri stopped the poll after an early lead by the opposition’s candidate but continued tweeting with his #WhyIwillVoteGEJ hashtag.
He was also very quick to delete the tweet as things didn’t as planned.
The poll was the second failed survey conducted by Mr. Omokri to wax the image of President Jonathan.
In the first poll October 2014, Mr. Omokri extended the poll duration after it became clear Mr. Buhari was in the lead. He later abruptly terminated the online poll almost immediately President Jonathan overtook Mr. Buhari marginally.
At the end of the poll, the president got 13,111 votes representing 49.3 percent, while Mr. Buhari got 12,875 votes, representing 48.41 percent. The president had less than one percent lead over Mr. Buhari.
Now the question is, do you think this marks a bad sign for President Goodluck Jonathan’s in his quest to be re-elected come February 14?
