Osinbajo Reacts To GEJ's "Stealing Is Not Corruption"

At the Presidential Media Chat yesterday, February 11, President Goodluck Jonathan was again asked to give more clarification on what he meant with his famous phrase, “Stealing isn’t corruption”, but this time President Jonathan’s response triggered the displeasure of the All Progressives Congress vice-presidential candidate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Osinbajo took to his Facebook page to express his disappointment at President Jonathan’s repetition of his famous statement.

While talking about corruption, Goodluck Jonathan said: “I didn’t say stealing is good, I only said stealing isn’t corruption.”

In  a swift reaction, Yemi Osinbajo posted on his Facebook timeline what exactly corruption is as opposed to President Jonathan’s definition.

He wrote: “Corruption is defined as ‘dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery’. The definition is simple and we all know what it is, yet Mr. President has spent the last several minutes of his media chat explaining to Nigerians what it is, suggesting we are all somehow confused about this.

“The GEJ presidency has failed Nigerians. The facts are undeniable. #‎ChangeWillCome”

Millions of Nigerians watched the Presidential Media Chat with President Jonathan, which touched on the future of the country after the elections postponement, the Boko Haram crisis and the economy.
