Tambuwal Assures: Elections To Be Peaceful

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, has assured voters that next month’s general polls will be peaceful, free and fair.

Tambuwal, who is also the Speaker of the House of Representatives, spoke at a town hall meeting prearranged by the Justice Development and Peace Commission of the Catholic Diocesse of Sokoto.

He said: “The elections will be successful and free and nobody should flee any part of the country because of the forthcoming polls.
“Nigerians must continue to have confidence in themselves and trust each other.”
He vowed to continue the praiseworthy policies of Gov Aliyu Wamakko, if elected.
In his turn, Bishop Mathew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto diocese, asked Nigerians to work hard to ensure that the elections were peaceful and successful.
The wealth of experience of Tambuwal has added value to the race and the forum is aimed at bridge-building,” he said.

Kukah also advised Nigerians to collect their PVCs so as not to disenfranchise themselves.

Tambuwal formally defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in October 2014 to the opposition APC, and few days later his security detail was withdrawn by the Inspector General of Police.

A month later he entered the Sokoto governorship contest on the platform of the opposition party.
Nigeria’s electoral body has now postponed the general elections until March and April.
