Some of the recent successes of the JTF was the arrest of a suspected
professional cameramen of the terrorist group in Adamawa State.
According to the Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, the arrested terrorists was said to be an expert in photo, video recording and filming of Boko Haram attacks against innocent citizens.
It was gathered that the terrorists were nabbed during patrols, surveillance and raid operations to track fleeing terrorists in communities around Adamawa State.
Confirming the development, Major General Olukolade stated that four members of the terrorists group were nabbed as they tried to escape in an SUV jeep with digital camera and weapons.
He added that the captured terrorists were taken into custody and that they are helping in ongoing investigation in one of the northern barracks.
Also on Saturday, Nigerian soldiers on patrol in the Kwanta community of Yobe area engaged another group of terrorists.
It was disclosed that the weaponry caught with the terrorists
included rapid propelling guns (RPGs) tubes, machine guns while several
rounds of different calibres of ammunition were also captured from the
terrorists.
It would be recalled that last Thursday, at least 67 terrorists died during a fierce battle for the control of Ashaka, the host community of Ashaka Cement Plant in Gombe state.
It was gathered that the terrorists, who had come in large numbers with heavy equipment and convoy of over 30 vehicles including a number of motor cycles, were on a mission to take control of Ashaka town, after they had operated in Bajoga, another town in Yobe state.
According to a tweet on Defence Headquarters handle, the JTF were able to overcome the terrorists after it got wind of their intention to overrun some towns in the area.
Though the terrorists were forced to abandon the mission leaving behind most of their vehicles and equipment they had planned to use to carry out the attack, no fewer than 10 soldiers were reported to have lost their lives in the operation, while those who were wounded are being treated in military hospitals.
