Pinnick's Election Cancelled

The Chairman of the NFF Electoral Appeals Committee, Okey Ajunwa has nulliffied the election that produced the Amaju Pinnick-led executive of the Nigeria Football Federation, barely 24 hours after the committee upheld the polls.

The ruling contradicts the ruling of three other members of the committee who upheld the polls yesterday.

Informing  journalists of his decision in Abuja today, Mr. Ajunwa said the other committee members who “upheld the elections are not lawyers and didn’t fully understand the law.

“None of them is a lawyer, I am the lawyer and I know the law, I have gathered the results of the committee and I will read them out in accordance to FIFA and CAF rules,”

“The Elections of Amaju Pinnick is hereby nullified and he is been banned from parading himself as the President of the Nigeria Football Federation.”

He went on to justify his decision, saying, it was based on the fact that the Electoral Committee for the election was illegal  and that no FIFA observer was on ground to monitor the elections.

He also alleged that the election was marred by violence and abuse.
He opined that one of the aspirants for the office was wrongfully disqualified and also queried why the elections were held in Dr. Amaju Pinnick’s home-state, Delta. It will be recalled that the Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations  to be held in Equitorial Guinea in February 2015, and some observers have attributed their failure to qualify, to the constant infighting in the NFF.
