The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has once again accused the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, of being the major beneficiary of the recent spate of bombings in the country.
PDP also accused APC of celebrating terrorism in the country as they went on with their governorship rally in Ekiti on Wednesday, May 21 when the country is in a state of mourning following yesterday’s bomb blast in Jos, and other incidents like the one in Kano state on Saturday which killed many.
Briefing journalists after the weekly meeting of the members of the party’s National Working Committee NWC on Wednesday in Abuja, PDP's spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, said the party arrived at this conclusion after a very careful appraisal of the unfolding national events, specifically the trend, character and spate of insurgency and terrorist attacks in the country.
While expressing shock over APC's governorship rally in Ekiti, the party said the opposition ought to have canceled the rally.
Metuh said, "The party expresses shock that while the entire nation is still mourning following yesterday’s bomb blast in Jos, even as another incident was reported this afternoon in Borno and debris yet to be cleared from the streets of Kano, the cold hearted APC moved its campaign train to Ekiti state in total affront to the sensibility of Nigerians and in tacit indication that the party is benefiting from terrorism.
"The APC has shown that it is a party of hypocritical lots who thrive only when there is violence."
He therefore called on Nigerians to make their deductions, by asking which political party is benefiting from this spate of bombings in the country.
When reminded that the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan were in Kano a day after the first bombing at Nyanya, Abuja where over 75 people died, Metuh replied, “that was in the past.”
