Officers of the Lagos State Police Command said it arrested seven suspected armed robbers between April 24 and April 30.
Mrs Ngozi Braide, the state command Public Relations Officer, who announced this on Thursday, said three of the suspects were apprehended at Oko-Oba Area on April 26 following a tip-off.
The spokesman said that after a gun battle with the gang members, two locally-made pistols, two live cartridges and a Bajaj Motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.
She revealed that two other suspected armed robbers were also arrested by officers attached to the Victoria Island Police Division at about 11.35 p.m. during a stop and search operation.
"The police were at Cowry ‘pin down point’ when they intercepted a Volkswagen commercial bus with registration number APP 291 XG with five occupants" she said. "The occupants of the bus jumped down and took to their hills and the policemen gave them a hot chase. Two of them were arrested while others escaped. Items recovered from the vehicle are one chief revolver pistol and one cut-to-size locally-made pistol with two live cartridges".
Braide said that police officers attached to Ketu Division, after a tip-off also apprehended two suspects on April 28, adding that the suspects belonged to a syndicate who allegedly specialised in stealing vehicles at car parks.
She said the suspects were arrested with a Honda salon car marked- KJA 612 AE, which was allegedly removed from a church, in Ojudu, Lagos.
