Mallam Salihu Sagir Takai, gubernatorial aspirant under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 elections was on Tuesday night attacked by an irate mob suspected to be anti-Goodluck Jonathan, at Singer market, Kano.

He had gone to pay a sympathy visit to victims of a fire outbreak that engulfed several shops at the Singer market about 8 days ago when he was attacked.

According to an eyewitness, Mallam Salihi arrived at the market at about 4:30pm with some of his supporters led by one of the party’s henchmen in the market but the sympathy visit later turned into a political rally as big speakers were said to have been mounted all over the place with supporters chanting the PDP slogan.

They made a mistake by not informing the market security personnel that they would be coming to the market. The PDP gubernatorial aspirant had finished what must have brought him to the market; we started hearing the sound of the PDP slogan oozing out from the big speakers they brought with them,” the eyewitness said.
Mallam Salihi however escaped being lynched.
