Westerhof Tells Keshi To Treat Ike Uche Like A Son

Nigeria's first world cup Coach and one of the best to ever hold the position as the Super Eagles Head Coach Clemens Westerhof, arrived the country Wednesday night.

He took some time out of his busy schedule to talk about the Eagles Chances at the 2014 World Cup, Keshi and the Uche dilemma.

He revealed he is proud of his former skipper (Keshi) achievements as coach of the Super Eagles, especially his leadership qualities.

He talked about Ike Uche, praising the work he has been doing in Spain saying: He is a “terrific player in Spain” repeatedly.

The Villareal Striker has been in superb form for the Yellow Submarines chipping in crucial goals for his team.

Uche had been rumoured to be always against Keshi’s tactical approach and complained to the senior authorities  during the AFCON 2013 tournament to the dismay of Keshi.

Uche had also not played superb in the role given as support striker in the tournament and Keshi did not want to risk this distracting the team's chemistry.

When these information was brought to Westerhof, He said: “It is bad if Uche behaved like that. If a player did that to me off he goes, I tell you.

But sometimes a coach is a father to the whole team.”

He flew in to help film a documentary on Nigerian football in his era and will be in Nigeria to celebrate his birthday tomorrow, Keshi, Aloy Agu, Austin Eguavoen will all gather in Ikeja at the Hotel Diplomat to celebrate with him.
