Amaechi made the disclosure at the gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) where the delegates of the party in the state ratified the endorsement of a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dakuku Peterside as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2015 general elections.

He said, “I went to court two weeks ago to stop the federal government from taking our N12 billion to Abia State. If I didn’t do that, they (federal government) would have taken our money to Abia State”.

However, Amaechi didn’t give further information on what the money was for or why the money was being transferred to Abia state.

The governor promised to renovate the  damaged stalls of the popular Mile 1 market in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, which was destroyed by fire, as well as compensate traders that lost their goods.
He told the delegates  that the choice of Peterside, was not his, but that of the APC caucus in the Rivers South-East senatorial district of the state.

Hon. Peterside represents Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro federal constituency in the federal House of Representatives. He is also the Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources.
Amaechi has been tipped to be named the director general of Muhammad Buhari’s presidential campaign if Buhari gets the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on December 8th.
